Manufacturing 35 million parts per month requires creativity to store those parts. With that in mind, Intralox went automated with its latest warehouse in Hammond, La.

Intralox opened the warehouse fitted with an Automated Storage and Retrieval System, which features three fully automated cranes for pallet picking and put away. Due to the height of the warehouse—105 ft—the footprint of the warehouse is only 30,600 sq ft with a capacity of 23,000 filled pallets. A traditional warehouse would require 103,000 sq ft to accommodate the same storage.

“We’re supporting customers all over the world from this facility,” said Intralox President Edel Blanks. “We develop and manufacture in Louisiana and ship to assembly locations around the world. Our customers know that they can count on us to take care of their conveyance.”

This warehouse expansion is the latest in a series of investments Intralox has made in Hammond. In 2017, Intralox expanded its production and warehouse space at the Hammond facility. The additional expansion today brings its footprint in Hammond to 224,790 sq ft of building on 98.68 acres.

“Two years ago, we sat down with the leadership at Intralox and we talked about an expansion from 30 (injection molding) machines to 60 machines and expansion of warehouses, and going from 38 jobs to 120 by 2021,” said Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller. “Today, there are 129 employees here, 60 machines, and two new warehouses. They (Intralox) not only promised and fulfilled those promises; they went above and beyond.”
